病人何是約90歲的病人,之前來到門診檢查時行動相當遲緩,需要家屬一直攙扶著、且病人總是悶悶不樂、不發一語,原來是因為發生白內障自覺視力越來越模糊­致憂鬱症(Depression)及失智症(Dementia)現象日益加重

據家屬透露~甚至有幾次自殘行為想了結此生。因兩眼均屬過熟型白­內障hypermature cataract,視力伸手不見五指hand movement 10cm.,幾乎全盲,以至於他毫無求生意志

於上個月做完左眼手術,病人隔天手術後回診,視力就進步到0.4,家屬及病人皆相當開­,手術後回診的第一天,病人神情明顯變得愉快,而且和主動和我們­診所醫護人員打招呼,與尚未手術時的樣子實有天壤之別。

因為患白內障而看不清楚產生憂鬱症狀的患者,診所並不是第一次遇到,之前我們也手術過幾­個類似的案例,等白內障手術開完
視力變好之後,患者情緒皆有顯著改善,這樣的復原結果同時也總是鼓舞了我們每個參與手術的同仁
