病人何◎◎是約90歲的病人，之前來到門診檢查時行動相當遲緩，需要家屬一直攙扶著、且病人總是悶悶不樂、不發一語，原來是因為發生白內障，自覺視力越來越模糊導致憂鬱症(Depression)及失智症(Dementia)現象日益加重。
據家屬透露~何◎◎甚至有幾次自殘行為想了結此生。因兩眼均屬過熟型白內障hypermature cataract，視力伸手不見五指hand movement 10cm.，幾乎全盲，以至於他毫無求生意志。
於上個月做完左眼手術，病人隔天手術後回診，視力就進步到0.4，家屬及病人皆相當開心，手術後回診的第一天，病人神情明顯變得愉快，而且和主動和我們診所醫護人員打招呼，與尚未手術時的樣子實有天壤之別。
因為患白內障而看不清楚產生憂鬱症狀的患者，診所並不是第一次遇到，之前我們也手術過幾個類似的案例，等白內障手術開完，視力變好之後，患者情緒皆有顯著改善，這樣的復原結果同時，也總是鼓舞了我們每個參與手術的同仁。
